Summary:
Riding specially-bred local horses across mountains, through forests and river valleys, this trek utilises pack horses to access some of the most remote and beautiful areas on New Zealand's South Island. Terrain can be steep and challenging at times but there are also opportunities for trot and canter in the valleys. Accommodation is mostly camping or in remote huts used by sheep musters, with good quality locally sourced food.
