If you would like to ride on the beach at sunset or gallop across golden sand for miles, we have horse riding holidays on the beach from as close to home as Ireland to as far away as South Africa or Costa Rica.
These itineraries involve riding on a beach at some point over the course of the holiday and some are entirely focused on exploring the beaches and cliffs of coastlines around the world.
The horses enjoy the beach just as much as we do, there really isn't anything like it - exhilirating is the word! Our beach rides are for those confident in walk trot and canter on a good horse in open space. Horses can naturally get quite excited when they step down onto the sand and they love a good canter or gallop across the water breaks. We're lucky that on some rides, for instance in France, a professional photographer will snap away while you enjoy your ride so you get to take home a photo of you mid-action.
Spotting wildlife on or near the beach and sea is another gem; be it encountering dolphins in Portugal and Uruguay or fish eagles in South Africa, there is always something to see and experience. A waterproof camera, or a waterproof case for your camera, is always a good idea. There are also disposable waterproof cameras on the market that will take quick snaps if you're actually in the water.
If you're longing to ride on a beach be sure to ask your Sales Consultant when looking at holidays so that they can guide you to find the best-suited holiday. Some beach riding itineraries, such as in Spain, don't actually ride on the beach during the busy summer months due to local laws (and the number of tourists lying in the way!). Riding on the beach is also governed by the tide too of course, so itineraries may be changed last minute to accommodate the changing tide patterns.

Different accommodations, attitudes or methods of riding are used to normal riding at home, may have challenging terrain, long days or itinerary changes, may involve camping or not so comfortable accommodation. An appetite for exploration and new experiences required.
