In Cyprus you will immerse yourself in a culture that draws on Europe, the Middle East, and 9000 years of constant invasion. Crusader castles rub shoulders with ancient vineyards, frescoed monasteries overlook citrus orchards, and sandy, sun-soaked feet tread Roman mosaic floors. This is the birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of love and passion, the legend says that she rose from the sea at the place now marked by a stack known as Aphrodite's rock, close to the coastal cliffs near Paphos. Its dramatic history is also marked by the breathtaking amphitheatres found over the island.
Despite continuing dispute between the Cypriots and the Turks (the north of the island is Turkish territory much disputed by their Greek neighbours), Cyprus is a welcoming and friendly island proud of its individual customs and family orientated way of life.
