Horse Riding Holidays in KYRGYZSTAN

The Central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan offers many possibilities for excellent horse riding holidays. The culture is very much focused on horse and horsemanship, and riding holidays are the best way to explore the high mountains of this land-locked country.

Kyrgyzstan has akways been crossed by caravaneers on the Silk Road. It is home to a nomadic and pastoral people, living in yurts and moving their herds on horseback over hundreds of kilometers through steppes and mountains.
"Who doesn't have a horse doesn't have feet", is a Kyrgyz proverb...

The climate is extremely diverse and dependent on location and season. For example temperatures range from -6°C in January to 24°C in July in the lowlands. In the highlands, the temperature can fall as low as -30° in January to 12°C in July. Kyrgyzstan has little rainfall although there can be heavy snowfalls during winter. Summer and late spring/early autumn are the best riding seasons.

The culture of Kyrgyzstan has been largely influenced by their nomadic nature of its people who transport their yurts from place to place. The sides of these tents are highly decorated with multi-coloured fabrics. You will get to experience these yurts on all our rides.

Horses are a very important part of the Kyrgyz culture and tradition. Originally from Siberia, the nomadic Kyrgyz tribe were essentially dependent on cattle.

We offer a variety of rides in Kyrgystan exploring different regions and different lengths of itme: The Great Silk Road accesses the high mountain pastures used in the summer. It involves riding between snow covered peaks in the steps of the herders. Camping at night can be cool even in the height of the summer.
