An extreme riding adventure taking place twice a year, herding approx 40 - 50 free running horses from their summer pastures in the mountains of Tusheti, across 250km of winding mountain roads, across vineyards, through villages, grasslands, and agricultural plains to the Vashlovani National Park where they spend the winter and back again in the spring. A keen sense of adventure, good stomach for heights and riding fitness is essential as large parts of the route are at trot and canter. An experience of a lifetime awaits!
A point to point trail, riding through the Tusheti mountains. Enjoy the stunning scenery and old village ruins. Staying in family run guest houses along the route. Designed for confident novice riders and above, with a good head for heights.
Badland-like areas of desert are interspersed with vast steppes dotted with pistachio trees, deciduous forests, dry river beds and narrow canyons with jagged peaks against the background of the snowy Caucasus Mountains. The riding is at all paces on very good horses, with overnight in tents/homestays or camping huts. Can be tailored to suit confident, fit, novice riders on request.
