UNICORN TRAILS CATTLE DRIVES

The rides below offer genuine cattle drive riding holidays where large numbers of cattle need to be gathered in from their summer pastures and moved to the winter ones or vice versa. In the middle of the summer some of the higher ranges become available and more cattle need to be shifted.

The cattle are moved at a walk so cattle drives are not fast rides! Any faster than a walk and you run the fat off them, most unwelcomed by any rancher. There is some faster work occasionally to retrieve runaways and open gates ahead. North America • USA, Wyoming, Bitteroot Ranch A working ranch as well as a 'dude ranch'. You will have frequent opportunities to help drive cattle, which graze in the adjacent national forest during the summer. Many of the horses enjoy cutting & driving cows & you will get the feel of this traditional western way of life -still very much alive at this ranch.

Latin America • Argentina, Estancia Huechahue in Patagonia A 15 000 acre self sufficient working ranch in northern Patagonia. Ride out each day where the mighty Andes rise up behind you, or ride into the neighbouring Indian reservation. Look out for wildlife of the area, especially condors.
