Of course you will immediately think of game reserves and the Big 5, and yes, we have a good choice of spectacular horseback safaris in South Africa for you to choose from including in the famous Kruger National Park. The game varies according to the location of our holidays but on all our safais you can get up close and personal to the game in a way that non-riders cannot imagine. We have some very exclusive holidays where guest numbers are tiny, the horses magnificent, the vista stunning, the food and wine top class and the service 5-star. You can choose from ranches or luxury camping. Advanced riders can really enjoy some challenging fast riding. Surprisingly even beginners are welcome on some of our horse back sarafi holidays, but obviously they will not be riding amongst any of the bigger or more unpredictable game such as buffaloe, elephant or lion! Non riders can often be accommodated with jeep safaris and various other activity itinearies such as golfing, fishing, quad bike riding, absailing, hiking etc. We don't believe you will find better horseback safaris in South Africa than those Unicorn has carefully chosen for our portfolio.
However South Africa offers far more than safaris on horseback. The endless white sand beaches fringing the thousands of miles of coastline are breatakingly beautiful and mainly deserted. There is beach riding and wineland riding on the Paarl and Hermanus trails and The Western Cape Trail provides a Piket Mountain getaway or a trail to the sea with excellent riding near Cape Town.
Further up the coast near East London, on the Wild Coast Beach Trail, advanced riders can literally gallop for days on the magnificent beaches, catching sight of whales and dolphins in the turqoise ocean and at the same time navigating round zebra on the sands. This is a fantastic South African horse riding holiday.
The magnificent Drakensberg Mountain range divides the highveld of the interior from the coast and game rich lowveld. We have a fabulous horse riding holiday in this region of South Africa. The acute dropoff from 10,000ft to under 2,000ft, known as the escarpment, gives rise tosome of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world. To ride amongst the highest peaks and heart of the Drakensberg Mountains try the Drakensberg Explorer. For the ultimate Mountain, Game and Beach holiday start in the highlands in Mpumalanga, then descending the escarpment move onto to the Kruger National Park to Mozambique.
