 HORSE RIDING HOLIDAYS IN MEXICO

Horse riding holidays in Mexico are the ideal way to meet the people and explore the more remote and spectacular areas of the country. We have selected a riding trip set in a very luxurious finca above a beautiful village on the edge of a large lake surrounded by high mountains, yet only 3 hours drive from Mexico City. An ideal horseback holiday for those looking to relax in comfort, take in the scenery and do some excellent horse riding.

The North American country of Mexico is bordered by the United States to the north. Belize and Guatemala lie to the south. The Gulf of Mexico lies on one side of this distinctive shaped country, and the North Pacific Ocean on the other. Partially landlocked, the Gulf of Mexico is comprised of the Gulf Coast of the United States, the island of Cuba and of course Mexico itself. Our Las Calacades ride is not far from the Gulf, where you will ride on steep forests on the hillsides around an impressive large lake. We offer this ride with a 'relaxed' option too.

Our other ride is in the Chihuahua region, not far from the US boarder. Here you will head away from the hustle and bustle of daily life into the stunning canyons. On the Copper Canyon Trail, you may get to meet the Tarahumara Indians who live in the hills, virtually independant of modern Mexico.

Mexico's climate is divided into two major seasons, the dry season and rainy season. The rainy season starts around June though to November, when the dry season starts. This might be the best time for your visit as it's not normally too hot during this summer period from November to June.

Mexico became independant from the Spanish Empire in the 1820's, so many Spanish influences still remain, but the history of Mexican people started long before this with the Aztec, Mayan and numerous other ancient civilisations. The language spoken is Mexican Spanish.

The Mexicans have always loved their horses. The Azteca is the national horse of Mexico. Mexicans have a big interest in equine sports and the Azteca, a very athletic horse, is perfect for such activities.

Mexico has such a wide range of attractions and activities on offer. There are luxurious modern resorts with stunning beaches, natural reserves, colonial architecture, lively festivities and cultural traditions, not to mention a huge selection of incredible ancient sites.
