Although the stable yard was perhaps a little run down in appearance, the horses were fit and well cared for, and the tack although well used, was good quality and in good condition.

With 6 to 7 hours a day in the saddle, moving at good speed across rugged terrain with steep climbs and descents this is not a ride for the inexperienced, or the faint-hearted.

The reason I used Unicorn Trails rather than simply booking direct is I was looking for something that was 'tried & tested'.

An excellent holiday despite some unseasonable weather (even for Wales). The use of quality B&B accommodation, with pubs & restaurants for evening meals is an excellent formula as this adds comfortable, welcoming accommodation and excellent food to first class riding. The fact that overnight accommodation is provided before the first day's riding and after the last makes for relaxed travel as timing isn't too critical.
