This guest house and horse riding centre is located in a beautiful 25 acre property crossed by a small stream. It is a recently renovated farm in the typical Alentejo style. Whilst walking through the estate and enjoying its calm and relaxing natural beauty, you can pick oranges, mandarins, pomegranates and various other fruits. In addition to the 6 bedrooms decorated according to various regional themes, each one benefiting from a terrace with a gorgeous view of the nearby hills, the Quinta offers: a flower garden with swimming pool and solarium-terrace; regional and gastronomic food on request; 2 outdoor arenas where riding lessons are given and fully equipped stables. Amongst other activities, its owner, a qualified horse riding instructor, breeds and trains the famous Lusitano horses on the estate. Less hours of riding and lessons are available for beginner/novice riders.
NOTES - DRESSAGE
Region
The regional wines are among the best produced in Portugal. Its gastronomy ("carne de porco à Alentejana", "sopa de beldroegas", "sopa de cação",desserts "conventuais" ...) is well known as well as its game and wild specialities during the hunting season (wild boar, partridge, hare...). Its undulating land covered with olive-trees and vineyards, its pleasant climate make it a quiet and peaceful holiday destination. The Quinta has in the proximity historical sites such as: the city of Évora, a UNESCO heritage site; the Romain remains of S. Cucufate, renowned for their frescos. Also leisure sites such as: Alqueva dam Alvito dam Monastry of mosteirinho in Serpa; Zoo centre Monte das Aves; Vineyard Cortes de Cima; Ostrich breeding Jose fragoso in Serpa are nearby.
Accommodation
There are 5 double guest rooms (heated during the winter), with bathroom (bath and shower) and an equipped private terrace. Each room is decorated according a different theme. Cots are available on request (10 euros paid locally). The Quinta has a beautiful old fireplace with vaulted roof and is equipped with TV and game table.
Meals
Meals are shared around a communal table in the dining-room or can be served on your private terrace. Breakfeast: from 8:30 am to 10 am (until 12 am on request) Lunch from 12 pm to 2 pm,dinner from 8 pm to 9.30 pm. High chairs are available on request. Bar: drinks and snacks are available on request.
Programme Costs 2008/2009:
Dressage tuition On this program you receive 2 hours dressage lesson per day for 6 days. Dressage tuition is intensive work and 2 hours per day, possibly taken in 2 one hour lessons, is the suggested maximum. This leaves you free to relax on the Quinta or explore the area in the remaining time and recover in time for your next lesson.
Other Services: These are on request and at extra cost: Airport Transfer (150 euros each way for 1-3 people) Laundry, Car rental, Taxi, Baby-sitting service. Internet service availbale 24hrs per day. Bicycle hire at €10 p.d.
The weight limit for this ride is 14 st/198 lb/90 kg, please enquire if you are an experienced rider exceeding this weight.
