Castle Leslie in County Monaghan, is an idyllic setting for horse riding in Ireland. Imagine over a thousand acres of rolling hills, parkland and lakes to explore on horseback. In addition tuition with frequent clinics by top competition riders and 300 cross country jumps are part of a top quality range of facilities. Accommodation is in the four star Lodge right next to the riding centre with it’s own cellar bar and brasserie as and organic Victoria Spa. This is truly the perfect setting for a luxury riding holiday in Ireland.

RIDING

Castle Leslie boasts superb equestrian facilities. Tucked away behind the Lodge top class ammenities include:

  • 1,000 acres of private estate for hacking 
  • 300 new cross-country jumps from knee high to knee tremblers built by Willis Bros. of Badminton Horse Trials fame
  • 21 miles of bridleways for meandering along
  • Mile-long all-weather gallop

  • 50 x 30 metre indoor arena with indoor cross-country fences

    2010 Riding Programmes:

    Starter Pack
    For beginners or riders who wish to improve their riding skills whiles enjoying some gentle hacks around the Estate. Riders experience a 30 minute lesson on Prince the Virtual Horse then join a group lesson and in the afternoon enjoy a two hour trek. This is a 5 day riding programme, 3 hours riding per day, 5 Nights Bed & Full Breakfast.

    Family Fun
    A mix of lessons, Prince the Virtual Horse, group indoor lessons and 1 or 2 hour hacks. Each programme is tailored to the individual family and their riding ability. This is a 3 day riding programme, 3 hours riding per day, 3 nights Bed & Full Breakfast

    Horse Sport
    For the more experienced rider looking to improve their dressage, show jumping and cross country riding skills. This is a 3 day riding programme that includes 3 hours riding per day tailored to suit your requirements & 3 nights Bed & Full Breakfast

    Happy Hackers
    Happy Hackers is for anyone who enjoys the simple pleasure exploring the countryside on horseback. This programme is usually geared more towards adults. This is a 3 day riding programme, 3 hours riding per day & 3 nights Bed & Full Breakfast


    ACCOMMODATION

    The charming Lodge has been carefully restored to offer guests everything they need for complete comfort and relaxation. The Lodge boasts 30 bedrooms, Victorian Spa, cosy Cellar bar and contemporary Brasserie. The Equestrian Centre is tucked behind the Lodge making it an ideal base for horse-lovers.

    The Cookery School - With the passion and prowess of the award-winning Master Chef and his talented team, you’re guaranteed to develop your skills and confidence at the Cookery School. Located in the original castle kitchens, both non-residential and residential guests can enjoy an evening demonstration or a more hands-on experience with the one and two day cookery courses.

    On the Castle Leslie Estate:
    • Fishing on the picturesque lake – some of the best pike fishing in Europe
    • Strolling around the many country estate walks. On the Estate, in the village of Glaslough and in the local area, there are a whole host of exceptional walks from short jaunts to long leisurely strolls. Enjoy the fresh country air and stunning scenery as you walk through the beautiful undulating landscape.
    •  Hawkwalking can be arranged for guests by pre-arrangement.
