SAMPLE ITINERARY - BALTIC COAST RIDE
Day 1
Meet your horse and ride around the estate for a gentle introduction to the horse and riding holiday. Ride along the tracks in the ancient wildwoods, watch out for deer and wild boar in the woods. You may well ride past two of the oldest oaks trees in Poland - one is 650 years old and the other 800 years old - both alive and kicking! You will ride through the gently rolling hills and meadows arriving back at the stables after approximately 2.5 or 3 hours.
Day 2
Ride to the sea, through the forest, along quiet lanes, through old villages until you arrive at the salty swamps where you can ride under the avenue of trees and see the amazing collection of water birds on each side of the track. At the end of the track is the beach, glorious white sands as far as you can see in both directions. Canter or gallop along the beach for about 3 miles (5kms) (in the height of summer riding of the beach is forbidden but you'll ride through the trees beside the beach). At the end of the beach you can climb the lighthouse and see the surrounding countryside before riding gently back under the trees to the water bird nesting area and into the wildwoods to get home again. Approximately 4 hours riding
Day 3
This is a 3 hour ride through the meadows and fields and along a quiet country lane. You ride beside the River Pesnita and then back into the anicent oak and beech woods and depending on the time of year you will see all the colourful wild flowers (wood anemones, etc.) on the forest floor.
Day 4
Riding through the old villages and along quiet lanes you'll come to the Red River. Ride along the beach to Ustromie Morskie, then more beach riding to an old Russian airfield which has a wonderful open flat space for a bit of fast riding and then home through the fields and meadows. Approx 3 hours riding
Day 5
You ride out to see the historical and enormous Old Oaks. Two of the 3 oldest living oak trees in Poland are on the estate (one is 650 years old and the other 800 years old). You ride through the ancient wild wood, oaks, beech and pines trees and it's possible to get quite close to the deer, wild boar and other animals whose home it is. You'll pass the hay house - a little house which stores the hay that the forest guides put out for the deer (and other wild animals) in the winter - there's a feed rack system under the house. Approx. 2.5 hours riding.
Day 6
Today you'll ride in the Harchinski forest getting there via meadows, quiet lanes and through old villages. You'll ride through the lanes, and the fields to the forest, enjoy it's cool restfulness and then return via a different route. Approx 3-4 hours riding
Day 7
Riding beside the Kolberg forest and then entering it you'll ride past the old oak again but this time going deeper into the forest along the quiet tracks. Leaving the forest you'll ride through the village which was one of the first in the region to discover salt centuries ago. Returning home via more lush meadows and tracks.
Day 8
After breakfast, say goodbye to your horse and make the trip back to the airport and home.
The order of the rides is dependent on the weather and may be changed. The itinerary of the day is decided by the riding ability of the group.
NOTES - BALTIC COAST RIDE
For beginner riders the 3 hrs riding daily can be replaced with 1.5hrs of lesons daily taken in 30min sessions. More riding can be booked on site.
There is plenty for non-riders to do - both men and women! The gym and pool complex is comprehensive and luxurious whilst the onsite spa offers a wide choice of treatments to everyone at reasonable prices and the personnel offer high quality service.
Outside the hotel there's fishing, bike riding, walking, bird watching, tennis, crazy golf and beach volleyball - local towns to explore. If you don't want to be quite so energetic then there's a pool, ping pong and billiards available.
The nearby town on Kolobrzeg has been famous throughout Poland and Germany for 200 years for its spa and health treatment facilities. The town has a fascinating history and an excellent selection of interesting shops; if shopping isn't your thing then you can walk for miles along the seashore on the sparkling clean white sands which are much prized in the area.
