Maja, the owner and guide, is a very talented girl who clearly loves her horses and her job. She is naturally friendly and helpful in every way. This is a relatively new venture and I wish her every luck and good fortune in the future. I would love to go back in a few years and see how things are going for her and her horses on their new farm.

The horses were wonderful, kind and forward going. They all got on well with one another and were happy in their work.

The weather was outstanding, especially since everyone told me it rains for October in Hungary, we had bright sun and clear skies all week. The accommodation was first rate. The food was simple and plentiful, which suited me just fine, although I felt bad for my horse by the end of the week as I'm sure I put on half a stone.

You do not need to change many Forints, there are very few places to spend money on the ride, and if you do spend time in Budapest most places will take Euros. (not all though).
The ride was often on sand tracks through forest, which although not what I expected was a perfect riding surface and made for great riding. The 'horse show' turned out to be a display of Hungarian carriages, riders and horsemanship, and was very interesting and impressive.

The terrain was fairly flat and easy going, the sand tracks were a perfect riding surface. All of the horses were forward going, so you do need to have an independent seat and hand, be able to steer and stop your own horse, they do not necessarily just follow one other and start/stop together (which is great, a lot of trekking horses do but it kind of defeats the obeject of riding i think). The ride moved at a good pace and the days were not long, so perfect for great riding and relaxing on the same trip.

Booking with Unicorn gives me confidence that the horses will be well cared for, which is the most important thing for me, and that the ride will be well organised. I find the Unicorn staff friendly and easy to deal with, quick to respond and efficient. Thank you!
