The riding at Dinaka was faster, due to the fact that there were endless sandy lanes/roads to canter and gallop on. In Botswana there was more emphasis on the safety (riding/living in proximity to wildlife), so the canters were longer (open planes) but slower, but we had a great time both places and both Kirsten (Dinaka guide) and West (LVHS) were great at making the experience enjoyable for all and taught us a great deal about the horses, nature and culture.

The horses at Dinaka were all forward-going and fun to ride and the stable staff incredibly helpful and good at taking care of the horses and the equipment. At LVHS, the horses were nothing less than supreme. Superbly schooled, fit and responsive and the staff very clearly took great pride and care in every single detail regarding their training and well being.

We had the most fantastic trip to the Dinaka Lodge and Tuli Block. We saw all the Big 5 and loads and loads of other game every single day. The horses were better than great and our guides/ride leaders very very nice, helpful and taught us a lot about the local environment, culture and nature. The accomodation, food and non-horse activities were all great too. Would HAPPILY go again... and again!! Particularly the Botswana part was truly magical!

This is not applicable to our experience, as we were in a group of 6, anyone's lack of riding ability didn't seriously hamper the others, but I would think that it is PARAMOUNT to ensure that people in the group are all of similar (pretty experienced) riding abilities - and groups should be no larger than 6-8.

The horses were all well schooled and responsive, so the riding as such was pretty straightforward (nothing too technical). However, the long hours in the saddle and ability to canter for 15 mins+ and galop for several kilometres was sometimes hard going - and the horses were all forwardgoing and by no means tired riding-school type horses. A good overall level of fitness, decent "bodybalance" and above average level of "riding confidence" a must.

This is my 3 Unicorn trip. Thank you!
