Tibetan Adventure - The Tagong Horse Festival

 HORSE RIDING HOLIDAYS IN CHINA

China is one of the world's oldest civilizations, consisting of states and cultures dating back more than six millennia. It is the world’s largest country by population and one of the largest by area.
We are delighted to offer an outstanding horse riding holiday in the area of Tibet. This is a fabulous adventure holiday.

The country’s varied terrain encompasses a great diversity of landscapes  including vast deserts, towering mountains, high plateaus, and broad plains. Experience the history, culture and breathtaking scenery this country has to offer with our unmissable horseback trek on the Tibetan Plateau.

The Tibetan Plateau is a huge area in south west China. It snows here once or twice a year but is very sunny - in fact it has over 3000 hours of sunshine a year! However, the daily tempertaure can vary but as much as minus 10 degrees celcius to +30. The plateau is surrounded by the world's highest mountains in the Himalayan mountain range and is itself mainly over 4000 metres above sea level.

Tibet is an ancient land. Way back in the 7th century it was an independent kingdom but is now ruled by China and since 1965 it has been known officially as the 'Autonomous Region of Tibet'. The Tibetans have their own language and also their own style of Buddhism. Their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, was forced to flee to India in 1959 following the invasion by China and a failed Tibetan uprising. He formed a government in exile.

The Potalo, the former home of the Tibetan government and Dalai Lama, is a major tourist attraction although sadly, since the Chinese invasion, industry is being created in the area.

The Tibetans are delightful people. They are mainly farmers, often nomadic. Yak butter is a speciality!

Why not join us on this amazing horseback adventure in China, Tibet.
