In Cambridgeshire, near Peterborough we find the Nene Valley where the quaint old cottages and houses are of the local Barnack stone such as Glatton, Wansford and Alwalton and the unspoilt estate villages of Abbots Ripton and Wennington. Nene Park stretches from Wansford to Peterborough, with 2,000 acres of lakes, woodlands and watermeadows. The riding centre is located on the border of Nene Valley Park which offers miles of exhilarating riding. The emphasis here is very much on tailoring the break to your needs: a relaxing weekend in nature, gaining riding fitness or skills, confidence building for lapsed riders or beginners.

SAMPLE ITINERARY - CAMBRIDGESHIRE

Arrive at the riding centre for 2pm in time for your induction. This means that your riding skills will be assessed and your goals discussed. You can plan your weekend! You will then be taken to your hotel to check in. The first day will include one or two hours riding plus or minus some stable management. When you head back to your hotel you can decide whether you want to “eat in” or head out to one of many nearby pubs or local restaurants.

Saturday
After breakfast, make your way back to the riding centre. Today you will ride for about three hours and have an hour of stable management, it all depends on your individual requirements! As with all the riding here, it can be within a lesson/tuition or hacking out in the superb Nene Valley Park. There is lots of support for nervous or beginner riders (or people returning to riding), but equally there is more demanding riding for those advanced riders who want more excitement! There will also be some time for you to explore the locality.

Sunday
After breakfast return to the riding centre for two more hours of riding where your riding holiday ends and you will be able to return home for a well-earned rest. The Centre has a covered school but please bring warm and waterproof clothing – You may be riding outside! Riding hats are mandatory. If you have your own please bring it otherwise, they are provided. Footwear must be applicable i.e. no fashion shoes, walking/climbing boots. Shoes should ideally have a small heel and smooth sole. Note: There is a weight limit of 13.5 stone, but exemptions may be made for experienced riders.

The weight limit for this ride is 13st 7lbs/191 lb/87 kg, please enquire if you are an experienced rider exceeding this weight.

WHAT IS INCLUDED
2 nights B&B at the Holiday Inn Express or (alternative B&B) sharing, riding as described. Transfers between your hotel and the riding centre are included if you arrive by public transport.

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED
Travel to and from your hotel in Peterborough, lunches and dinners.
