SAMPLE ITINERARY - QUERCY TRAIL, DORDOGNE

Day 1

Your horse riding holiday starts on Saturday afternoon. Then you will meet the other riders of your group.

Day 2
On Sunday morning we will introduce everybody to his/her horse that you will keep for the rest of the week. After taking care of your horse, we take a trial ride in the area. The afternoon is free.

Day 3
On Monday morning we will leave for a ride to the Dordogne River. We cross the forests and ride through little villages towards Souillac. At about noon we will tie up the horses and have a picnic in the forest. Then we continue our way to the Dordogne River where the horses can refresh their legs in the water. Our hotel is on the side of the river in front of « Château de la Treyne ». « Beauregard » is a simple hotel, where we will stay overnight and have breakfast the next morning. Dinner we will have in Souillac.

Day 4
On Tuesday we will cross the Dordogne River and then go into the valley of the L’Ouysse. This is a river that flows together with the Dordogne under « Belcastel ». It is a very pretty ride, with long canters along the river. We will have a « walnut cake » lunch at « Moulin de Caoulet ». Then we continue to Rocamadour. Overnight is in Alvignac, in a hotel in the middle of the village, with the horses in the field behind the hotel. In the afternoon (when we arrive early enough) you can visit Rocamadour by taxi.

Day 5
The next morning the horses are free and you can visit « Gouffre de Padirac » if you want to. In the afternoon we go to Hotel de la Terrasse (a small castle) in Meyronne or Domaine de la Vaysse(in Martel), both luxurious and very pretty hotels.

Day 6
On Thursday we go back to our starting point.

Day 7
Friday is a half-day ride and in the afternoon you can relax.

Day 8
Departure is on Saturday morning.
