Estonia, a country in northeastern Europe, located on the eastern end of the Baltic Sea. It is the northernmost and smallest of the Baltic states, which also include Latvia and Lithuania. Estonia’s capital, Tallinn, is an important Baltic seaport and well known for it's prefectly preserved medieval architecture.
Estonia is a country consisting of many contrasting landscapes: The land is mostly a low-lying plain and features wetlands and ancient forests teeming with wildlife, with some hills in the central and southern regions. Nearly half the country’s land is forested and it has more than 1,150 lakes and reservoirs, which cover about 5 percent of the land.
The country's coastal waters contain more than 1,500 islands, but only 400 are larger than 1 hectare (2 acres); the rest are small islets and reefs. The coast varies from sheer limestone cliffs in the north to sandy beaches and wetlands in the west. The varied terrain provides opportunity for diverse and exciting riding.
