more photos | enquiry | availability check | ride reviews

A short journey from Prague brings you to this protected area of outstanding natural beauty. This peaceful pocket in the garden of Bohemia is complete with rolling meadows, pine forests and hills dotted with picturesque traditional hamlets. Proximity to Prague makes this trip ideal to combine with a short city stay in this fascinating city. The tranquility of the area is complimented by the riding unlimited by fences or roads. Pure and mixed breed Czech warmbloods will guide you through this varied terrain with care and honesty. On this short break you can explore the local area on horseback, taking in the views and meeting its hospitable people. Rich local traditions and natural beauty are all experienced en route. Accommodation is on the family run farm. Your host has a passion for all things four-legged and your stay at the farm will be enriched by the lively menagerie of dogs, cats, sheep and pigs (That is if they can be kept from disappearing off into the forest!) You will take a short assesment ride to match you to a suitable horse. An evening meal will be served in the dining room, giving you the chance to get to know your fellow riders.

Day 2
In the morning, after a hearty breakfast, you will set off to explore the surrounding area on horseback. There are plenty of opportunities for trotting and cantering over the rolling meadows and pine forests. After lunch on the farm your afternoon ride will take you to visit the view tower in Varhost. After climbing the spiral tower you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of this protected area, beautiful countryside dotted with hamlets. After a welcome shower your evening meal will be taken on the farm.

Day 3
Today you will ride from the farm to Zubrnice where you can visit the open air museum of the village. Lunch will be in a small restaurant in the village of Tyniste. Translation of the menu available on request! You will return to the farm through the valleys, forests encountering small pockets of civilisation along the way. Again there are plenty of opportunities for trotting and cantering.

Day 4
Departure. Transfer either to the airport or onto a hotel in Prague by request.

Please note beginners can have tuition instead of the trail itinerary, or they can request fewer hours in the saddle.

If you visit at the beginning of July (around the 8th) you may be lucky enough to watch the annual medieval parade of the village of Trebusin. It celebrates stories of landlords and freedom of religion. You may see some of your guides taking part in the horse parade, and a story is played out, with tournaments and swordfights. A really memorable part of your holiday!
