Explore the marvellous foothills of the Atlas Mountains around Amizmiz and Ouwargan on this horse riding holiday. You ride superb Barb-Arab horses who are very surefooted, reliable and responsive. This country is just below the High Atlas and the foothills are draped wtih green forests interspered wtih open spaces and marvellous views. It has a perfect temperature for maximum riding in spring and autumn, while in summer the altitude provides refreshing breezes and in winter the sun in the day warms the air during the rides. You can choose luxury camp, lodge or hotel to stay in.
SAMPLE ITINERARY - ATLAS MOUNTAIN SHORT BREAK
Day 1
Arrive Marrakech at 14:00 and transfer Atlas Mountains.
You are met at the airport or collected from your hotel in Marrakech and transfered by minibus to the area of Ouargane / Amizmiz. The drive takes about 1 hour. Dinner and night in the small luxury lodge in the mountians or a private luxury tented camp.
Day 2 and 3
Horse riding.
The country around you is ideal for riding. The horses are right beside you, in the grounds of the lodge or beside your tents. You return to the lodge for lunch or enjoy a picnic out on the further routes. The programme on this riding holiday can be adapted to your wishes and fitness levels and according to the seasons and abilities.
There are many trails to choose from all between 2 and 6 hours riding. You ride along small footpaths onto larger tracks, mountain dirt roads, follow steep river valleys, crossing rolling hills or large desert like open spaces, ideal for a fast canter! You could ride in a diferent direction each day for 2 weeks.
You are riding in a remote part of the mountains and will meet many Berber people en route through their villages. It is often the case that visitors are invited in to join families for a cup of traditional mint tea.
Day 4
Horse ride and transfer to Marrakech.
One last ½ day we enjoy a last ride, lunch and transfer to the Marrakech Airport.

NOTES - ATLAS MOUNTAIN SHORT BREAK
Programme:
This horse riding holiday is available all year round and can be extended for as many days as wanted in the mountains, or by adding days in Marrakech. We recommend a stay at Riad Dar Grabli or Riad Sultana.
Accommodation:
You can choose from a small luxurious lodge with wonderful views or a private luxury tented camp site. The camp is fully staffed with camp manager/cook and horse guide/groom(s). The camp has full size walk in tents, traditional carpets on walls and floor, fully furnished with freshly made up beds, dressing table etc There are hot showers and toilets available. There is a small supplement for the private tented camp.
Horses: The horses are all stallions as it is customary not to castrate riding horses in Morocco. They all have individual characters and are well schooled, of good temperament and no more difficult to handle than normal riding horses. Riding routes can be adapted to individual riding abilities and fitness levels. They range from easy and gentle to steep, challenging and fast.

The weight limit for this ride is 15st /210 lb/95 kg, please enquire if you are an experienced rider exceeding this weight.
