PROFILE RACHEL PRESNAIL

Most  younger siblings do not want to be out done by their fellow fledglings and our Rachel is no different. Victory was declared on her ninth birthday when her worn down mother finally allowed Rachel to follow in her sister Catherine’s footsteps and take lessons at the local riding school.

An equestrian career soon beckoned and after a spell working for a British show jumper Rachel found her way to the National Stud where a passion for thoroughbred breeding, and more specifically a love of breaking in the yearlings took hold. With a thorough training under her belt Rachel then took her skills over seas to stud farms in Ireland and New Zealand.

New Zealand gave Rachel some incredible experiences and even inspired her to buy a racehorse, In The Red. The mare ran in two races before being presented to a local farmer because she finished last in both of them.

Ireland however has a special place in her heart. She fondly remembers the long summers as a child on her uncle’s farm in Co. Mayo in the west of the Emerald Isle and now enjoys frequent trips to Catherine’s farm where she has three horses, a mare with a foal at foot and a youngster that Rachel backed. So far Rachel's riding trips have been to the Umbrian Adventure in Italy and to Catalonia in Spain, the highlight being a mad gallop down the beach.

Rachel is currently living in Chesham with Charlie the dog and is a welcome addition to the Unicorn Team, especially as she makes a mean cup of tea!
